Apples, Alligators and Astronauts (Letter A Wrap-Up)

There are so many fun things to do with the letter A!
Here are a few things that we didn't have time to do,
But are fantastic ideas!

I love creating a resource for anyone
Who needs lots of ideas for a unit.

The first idea is from the fabulous Kristin at Preschool Daze.
She teaches preschool and has tons of original ideas.

She had her preschoolers make apples out of scrunched up paper bags and wrapped them with tape.
Then the kids played pretend by making an apple store.
Go here to see her other apple ideas.

The Iowa Farmers Wife created
An Apple Tree Felt Game.
She adapted this felt idea from a computer game.
Her little girl can now sort the capital and lowercase letter As.
Go here to see exactly how to make your own.

The last idea is from an adorable blog I just found,
Creativity Takes Flight, created an astronaut craft.
Go here to see exactly how her little boy made this!

I love how many wonderful and fun ideas there are out there.
As always, for more letter A ideas head over to Pinterest boards!

Apples

It's such a fun season to learn about apples,
And kids love to eat them!
We started our day by singing "Apple Apple a, a, a,"
It is part of our daily routine that teaches great concepts of print, letters, and sounds.
It's fun to see how fast they catch on.

We read Up, Up, Up, It's Apple Picking Time!
We cut open an apple to look at the seeds.

Then we made our own apple tree
We use a paper sack and the kids cut out the green part of their tree and added apples with red paint.

Then the children chose out their favorite kind of apple,
And we graphed it.
(I love this idea, why haven't I done this before?)

Then we peeled our apple,
And ate it!
The kids love to eat their spiral apple!

For our music in motion we sang "Alligator"
With instruments and our alligator piano.
