Makin' Ice Cream

My little sweetie has been sick for the last few days,
So she wasn't super excited to make ice cream.
But once I got out all the ingredients,
Her inner Martha Stewart was awakened.
In the end, she was convinced she made it on her own!

It was super simple.
(The whisk was unnecessary, but kept her busy while I did prep work.)
You could also add extra flavors (fresh berries etc.).

We put all of our ingredients in a baggie,
Then into a can with ice and salt.
And covered it with more ice.
If you didn't have a can you could use,
Just put the ice in a gallon sized baggie.

Then we did the hard part,
Shake it baby!
We had to shake our ice cream can for 10 minutes.
This part was so fun!

We played lots of games with this.
When she got board I would shake it and she would dance.

Then the extra fun part...
Eating it!
She was amazed when we opened the can,
To see ice cream.
It was a little magical moment.
Yum and fun!

  1. This is one of my favorite activities! I've done it with all my elderly residents, and even they had fun and were amazed at the results. Putting it in a can is a great idea, cuz those plastic gallon bags get dang cold, and wet! Mmmm I might just have to do this with Cami soon. Thanks for sharing all your adorable activites- you're super mom!

  4. I have never tired to make ice cream without a machine. This sounds like fun and feels very old fashioned. Thanks for sharing.
